Couple arrested for growing cannabis

KUCHING, June 27: A man and a woman were arrested after a cannabis plant was found at their house located at Kampung Paya Mebi, Landeh, Kuching on Saturday afternoon.

Padawan Police Station Narcotic Department raided the house at 3.10pm based on a reliable information.


According to the police report, an 8cm tall cannabis plant was found growing in a pot at the house.

The male suspect said that he got the cannabis plant from one of the houses located in the next lane of the village. Police had raided the house later but no cannabis plant was found at the house.

The two suspects were later arrested and the 44-year-old male suspect tested positive for Methamphetamine, Amphetamine, and Tetrahydrocannabinol while the female suspect tested negative in the drug test.

The male suspect had two criminal records under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 while the female suspect had none.

Both suspects and the cannabis plant had been brought to Padawan Police Station and will be investigated under Section 6B Dangerous Drug Act 1952.—DayakDaily
