KUCHING, Nov 12: All councillors in Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) and other local councils in Sarawak are duty-bound to help and support the government, says MPKS chairman Dato Peter Minos.

He said the local councils are established as part of the government; thus, they must show respect and accord and extend their full support.

“All councillors know who the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government candidates are in their respective areas. So help them where and when possible.

“Councillors are influential people on the ground. They know the people in the towns and villages. So use these attributes to help GPS and its candidates,” he said during MPKS’ 6th Anniversary Dinner officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Hilton Hotel here last night (Nov 11).

Minos further hoped that after GPS’ victory post-15th General Election (GE15), the GPS State government would reciprocate by extending the councillors’ service term at its absolute discretion.

“All councillors wanted and desired continued political stability and for a united Sarawak. Now, we have achieved that under the leadership of Premier Abang Johari.

“Thus, let’s perpetuate these good things in Sarawak and not give any opportunity for Malaya-based parties like Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to spoil the show and destabilise our beautiful Sarawak.

“Do not give any face to DAP and PKR, which do nothing but spew propaganda, hatred, and empty words and promises,” he added. — DayakDaily
