KUCHING, Nov 12: There will be no problem for Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) candidate, Dato Sri Nancy Shukri, to win the P193 Santubong seat as she has ‘big feet’ to fill the ‘big shoes’ left by incumbent Dato Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

This was the opinion of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief-cum-Muara Tuang assemblyman Dato Idris Buang.

He said Nancy needed little introduction as she is not just a local figure of Santubong but also a figure of Sarawak and an asset to Malaysia, which was why he is of the opinion that she is more than capable of being an MP in Santubong.

“Only a small group of people in Santubong will lean towards the Opposition, with some would attempt to politicise (minor issues).

“But we have Wan Junaidi behind (supporting) Nancy Shukri, and it is obvious that Nancy is accepted in the area.

“Moreover, she is a local candidate because she comes from Kampung Pulo, which is part of Santubong,” he told the press during a ‘chit chat’ session held at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters in Jalan Diplomatik here today.

He also shot down rumours that Nancy was fielded due to ‘internal problems’ within GPS.

“There was no ‘problem’. It is normal within PBB or GPS to get our best candidate who can fulfil the needs of the area,” he added.

At the same time, he did not deny the possibility that Wan Junaidi, who was not seeking reelection this 15th General Election (GE15), may return as a senator to the Federal Cabinet.

“It is possible for him to return as a senator and in the Federal Cabinet because of his expertise and experience that he can bring to Malaysia,” he pointed out. — DayakDaily
