MIRI, Dec 26: A military corporal was detained by Miri district Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (CID) during an operation on Christmas Day.
Drugs believed to be ‘syabu’ weighing 0.52grammes and estimated to be worth RM100 were also seized.
Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted today disclosed that the 25-year-old army personnel was nabbed around 10.40am at Centre Point.
The drugs were found under the suspect’s motorcycle seat.
Prior to his arrest, the suspect was sitting on his parked motorcycle. However, when he became aware of the Narcotics CID team approaching, the suspect attempted to flee the scene, but to no avail as swift police action foiled his escape attempt.
Lim added the investigation is being conducted under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“A urine test has been conducted and the suspect has tested positive for ‘syabu’.”
