Cops, Neighbourhood Watch members gel ties through patrol initiative

KUCHING, Jan 8: A crime prevention patrol programme was carried out by Padawan District police headquarters at Kampung Semeba from 9pm yesterday to 1am today.

The event was led by its MPV unit head Heli John Ngimat together with 11 personnel from the patrol cars, public affairs and motorbike patrol units.

Also taking part were Kota Sentosa Police Station deputy police chief Sgt Md Suhami Mohd Suib and three of his personnel together with seven members from Kampung Semeba Neighbourhood Watch, led by village head Josak Siam.


In a statement, it was revealed that everyone involved in the programme was given a special briefing at the Kampung Semeba Community Hall before the start of the patrol.

The programme represented an initiative by the police to work closely together with the community to enhance crime prevention.

Semeba Village Neighbourhood Watch is under the jurisdiction of Padawan District police headquarters, and they are very active and consistent in carrying out voluntary service patrols.

Nothing was confiscated and no arrests were made during the programme. – DayakDaily
