KUCHING, Aug 10: Contractors responsible for the construction of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Dijih in Selangau, Mukah, have been urged to take immediate action to complete the project, which has experienced delays beyond the scheduled deadline.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine emphasised that the construction work must adhere to the established standards.

He made these remarks during a recent visit to SK Dua Sungai, following an inspection by the Sarawak Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD) and the Public Works Department (JKR), led by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

The inspection revealed that the construction work at SK Dua Sungai is in its final phase.

In the meantime, Uggah, who is also MIPD minister, received a report indicating that the SK Kampung Petanak project is expected to be fully completed by the end of this year.

It is worth noting that the dilapidated school redevelopment projects within the Tellian state constituency have been allocated a budget of RM1 billion, covering three primary schools: SK Dua Sungai, SK Kampung Petanak, and SK Dijih.

Also present during the visit were MIPD deputy minister Datuk Aidel Lariwoo, Sarawak JKR Director Dr Cassidy Morris, and Mukah Division Resident Kueh Lei Poh. — DayakDaily
