KUCHING, Sept 5: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has instructed the contractor for the upgrading of Taman Rekreasi Jalan Semaba, Lorong 2 (Phase 2) to carry out remedial works after expressing dissatisfaction with the quality of workmanship.
During a site inspection today, Yap was accompanied by officers from Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and the appointed contractor for the RM50,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project aimed at improving recreational facilities for local residents.
He directed the contractor to rectify the shortcomings and called on MPP officers to closely monitor the remedial works, including conducting a final inspection before releasing the contract sum.
“This is to ensure that public funds are used responsibly and the works delivered meet the expected standards,” he said in a statement today.
Yap also thanked MPP as the implementing agency for their cooperation and oversight in ensuring projects are completed for the benefit of the people.
Reaffirming his commitment to people-centric development, Yap stressed that he will continue to pursue projects that improve the living environment and social well-being of the community.
“The upgrading of recreational facilities is part of continuous efforts to ensure that community spaces in Kota Sentosa are well-maintained, safe and conducive for families and community activities.
“Proper facilities play a key role in promoting healthy lifestyles, fostering community bonding and enhancing overall social well-being,” he added. – DayakDaily
