KUCHING, June 27: The main contractor for the Miri Centralised Sewerage project has assured the public that the resurfaced road will be repaired appropriately.

According to the company’s spokesperson Raymond Tiong, the road repair work was halted as the machine used for the road construction was broken down recently.

Coupled with the Movement Control Order (MCO), he explained that the repair work for the stretch of the road was unable to be carried out on time.

“The compaction using a hand roller is an acceptable practice and is the quickest way to get a small stretch done so that traffic can move during this time after work was stopped during MCO.

“We will repair and fix the road as soon as possible,” he said in a statement.

Thus, the company appealed for patience from the public.

Earlier, Miri City Council (MCC) has demanded the main contractor for the Miri Centralised Sewerage project to fix a stretch of a road in Miri which has been badly done for the construction of the sewerage project in the city centre.

The city council in a press statement said it was disappointed with the sub standard road repair being carried out by the Miri Centralised Sewerage project contractor, adding that the repair work carried out by the project contractor was unacceptable. —DayakDaily
