KUCHING, July 18: The second flood occurrence in low lying areas along Sungai Limbang for this year was caused by continuous rainfall in the past few days.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, the rising water level has inundated a few longhouses and villages in Batu Danau constituency.

The water trend which flows down from Ulu Limbang had caused the water level to rise in certain areas such as Kampung Tanjung, Kampung Ukong, Kampung Pengkalan Jawa, Kampung Pengkalan Madang, Kampung Batu Danau, Kampung Pandak, Kampung Kuala Awang, Kampung Telahak and a few other villages along Sungai Limbang.

Apart from that, some of the schools, namely SK Ukong, SK Batu Danau, SK Kuala Awang, SK Lubok Tekuruk and SK Telahak were also affected by the flood, including the Batu Danau Health Clinic.

However, as of Friday, the temporary evacuation centres (PPS) are yet to be opened in Limbang as the water level is currently receding.

Previously in May this year, a total of five PPS were opened in the district to accommodate the flood victims from Batu Danau area. – DayakDaily.
