Continuous rainfall alert extended for several areas in Sarawak until Feb 5

KUCHING, Feb 3: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has extended the continuous rainfall alert for several areas in Sarawak until Feb 5.

The affected areas include Sibu, Selangau, Mukah, Daro, Matu, Dalat, and Bintulu.

According to an advisory issued at 11.25am today, MetMalaysia stated that the weather pattern analysis suggests an anticipated concentration of wind in East Malaysia, which could lead to increased humidity and potentially result in continuous rain in Sarawak and Sabah.


The warning is in place due to the possibility of severe weather conditions, including thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20mm/hour, either currently occurring or expected to persist for more than one hour.

The public is strongly advised to stay informed by checking MetMalaysia’s official website, following the department’s official social media accounts, and downloading the MyCuaca app for the latest and accurate weather updates.
