The relentless downpour has inundated several low-lying areas and caused significant disruptions across the city.

Reports confirmed landslides in Kampung Lereng Bukit and Kampung Haji Wahed, further compounding the challenges faced by residents.

As of 9am this morning, the rain showed no sign of abating, raising concerns of further flooding and landslide risks.

Major routes, including Jalan Miri-Pujut and Jalan Bintang, have been rendered impassable due to floodwaters, leaving long vehicles stationery and traffic at a standstill.

In Kampung Pujut Tanjong Batu, rising floodwaters have prompted villagers to move their vehicles to higher ground along the Miri Bypass.

Water levels in Senadin housing areas show a concerning upward trend, heightening fears of worsening conditions.

Meanwhile, a temporary evacuation centre has been established at Miri Civic Centre to provide refuge for victims affected by a landslide in Kampung Lereng Bukit.

The Miri District Office confirmed that the centre was opened today in response to the disaster.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), as of 10.45am, 23 families—comprising 168 individuals—have been displaced by the landslide. Several houses, primarily constructed using wood, were severely damaged by the collapse.

Efforts are underway to ensure the safety and welfare of those relocated to the temporary shelter, while authorities monitor weather conditions and assess the extent of the damage.
