Construction worker fined RM2,000 for obstructing cop at roadblock

KUCHING, Nov 27: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a construction worker to a fine of RM2,000 for obstructing a police officer at a police roadblock last Sunday.

Delton Penga Entair, 22, pleaded guilty to the charge here today.


Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi sentenced him to a fine of RM 2,000 or in default of two months’ imprisonment.

He was found to have voluntarily obstructed public servant, Sgt Ameerul Asyraf Jeffry in discharging his public functions, at the police roadblock at Mile 14, Serian-Kuching Road, on November 22, at about 4.45pm.

Delton did not wear a helmet while riding on a motorcycle.

He was charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment term of two years or with fine which may extend to RM10,000 or with both, upon conviction.

Prosecuting officer Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin prosecuted while the accused is unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
