KUCHING, Sept 24: Construction work on the Trans-Borneo Highway which costs RM3 billion will start next year.
According to a TVS news report today, Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development (M-Ficord) Sarawak Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said this would start with road construction from Kuala Baram to the Sungai Tujuh Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex, Miri, spanning a distance of 4.9km.
He also stated that the construction line runs from ICQS Tedungan to ICQS Pandaruan in Limbang (57.3km) and from Pekan Lawas to ICQS Merapok in Lawas (34.1km).
āThe Trans-Borneo Highway project involving the Limbang District covers a distance of about 30km,ā he noted, as quoted by TVS.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas disclosed during his ministerial winding-up speech at the first meeting of the second term of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) that the 96.3km-long highway that will connect Sarawak to Sabah via Brunei is expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2024. ā DayakDaily
