KUCHING, Sept 11: SACOFA’s 1,688 towers and 11,000 kilometre of fibre infrastructure, and U Mobile’s technical expertise have positioned both entities to effectively deliver 5G solutions to meet the evolving needs of Sarawak.
In stating this, SACOFA’s managing director Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Abdul Taib explained that achieving 5G excellence requires clear vision, strategic planning, and effective execution.
“The commitment of both SACOFA and U Mobile teams has been instrumental in achieving this success. SACOFA looks forward to supporting U Mobile’s continued growth in Sarawak,” said Sulaiman during the Agreement Signing Ceremony between SACOFA and U Mobile on 5G Mobile Backhaul Partnership held at SACOFA headquarters today.
The agreement was signed by Sulaiman and U Mobile CEO Wong Heang Tuck, and was witnessed by YB Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi and Chairman of SACOFA. Also in attendance were Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication (Telecommunication) Datuk Liwan Lagang and Director of SACOFA Mat Hassan Esa.
Sulaiman said the milestone event marked a proud moment as SACOFA and U Mobile both took a significant step forward by signing a strategic partnership for 5G mobile backhaul deployment, bringing the next-generation ULTRA5G network connectivity directly to Sarawak.
“This partnership demonstrates SACOFA’s commitment to bringing ULTRA5G connectivity to Sarawak, highlighting our focus on reliable technology and infrastructure solutions. It is a bold initiative that directly contributes to the ambitious goals of the Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030 and the Sarawak Digital Blueprint 2030.
