In a Facebook post, Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim described Salahuddin as a loyal friend who had stayed by his side throughout their political careers.
“Personally, it’s a big loss for me and my family, and Salahuddin stood firm together in this long struggle until the end of his life. His service and kindness certainly cannot be repaid materially.
“He is known for having a high personality attitude, whether to friends or opponents. (He was) a strong figure who worked hard and was very obedient to his duty and responsibility.
“Rest easy, my friend. May Allah SWT give great patience to your family, forgive all your sins and may Salahuddin be given a special place by His side, God willing,” he wrote last night.
It was also reported that Anwar had cancelled his afternoon schedule to fly to Johor and led the funeral prayers for Salahuddin at Masjid Jamek Dato Haji Noh Gadot in Serkat, Pontian.
