KUCHING, July 8: A labourer from Sri Aman perished in a fatal accident after his motorcycle collided with a 10-tonne lorry along Jalan Saratok-Roban, today.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the 26-year-old man suffered critical injuries in the head, chest and feet following the accident.
“The deceased was confirmed dead at 2.05 pm by Dr. Dominic, from Roban Health Clinic, who responded to the location in an ambulance unit. The body was brought to Saratok Hospital for further action,” he said in a statement today.
Alexson stated that the incident occurred at about 2pm, when the lorry, which was heading towards Saratok from Roban, collided with the deceased, who was riding a motorcycle from Roban junction to Roban town, along Kilometer 1, Jalan Saratok-Roban.
“Based on initial investigation and evidence from the vehicle tyre tracks at the incident location, it is believed that the deceased had swerved into the opposite lane when riding along the left corner,” he added.
