KUCHING, Nov 28: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg visited PCCW Global headquarters in Hong Kong on the last day of his working trip to China.
He and his delegation were briefed on the company’s global operation. PCCW Global is a world-leading provider of voice and data solutions with network and data centres spanning the globe.
The chief minister and his entourage were also taken on a tour of the data and control centres at the facility.
The stop-over at Hong Kong wrapped up the chief minister’s three-day visit to China, which included stops at Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian Province.
Among the delegation members were International Trade and eCommerce Minister Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong and State Secretary Tan Sri Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
On Monday, Abang Johari and his entourage toured the NetDragon Virtual Reality Campus in Changle, near Fuzhou.
NetDragon Websoft Ltd is China’s leading company that develops and operate multiplayer online games and mobile applications. The company is also a global leader in interactive classroom learning.
The visit was to explore ways to introduce Internet-based and interactive learning in Sarawak’s preschool education.
The visit to Fujian Province was part of the state’s effort to pave greater economic collaboration. Sarawak is keen to establish economic ties with Fujian to develop a modern economy in the state. — DayakDaily
