Close contacts, links to clusters form majority of new Covid-19 cases in Kapit, Bukit Mabong

KUCHING, May 4: The majority of the 132 new Covid-19 cases reported in Kapit and Bukit Mabong districts today were close contacts to positive cases and those linked to active clusters.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing said out of the 81 new cases in Kapit, 62 were detected through screening of close contacts.


“This is followed by nine cases linked to Jalan Selirik Cluster, one case linked to Putai Cluster, seven detected through screening of symptomatic individuals while two more cases were from other screenings at health facilities,” he said in a Facebook post today.

The Baleh assemblyman also revealed that for Bukit Mabong, 49 out of 51 the new cases reported were linked to the Putai Cluster. Of these, one is already an existing active case.

“The three other cases were detected through screening of close contacts,” he said. — DayakDaily
