Civil servant among those arrested for drug possession in Kapit

Kapit, June 13: A government servant, including a foreign woman, were among 15 individuals nabbed in a raid at the Kapit Market and Chinese Village, on Friday for drug possession.

Kapit District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Freddy Bian said all suspects, aged between 24 and 47, were detained by a police team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department led by Inspector Thomas Untol in the operation from 3pm to 8pm.

“During the investigation, those arrested included a civil servant and an Indonesian woman aged 47 and 37, respectively,” he said today.

Also seized during the raid were suspected shabu drugs weighing approximately 16.07g and cannabis suspected to weigh approximately 0.41g.

“All suspects were found to be positive for preliminary tests and detained at the Police Station for further investigation,” he said.

The cases are being investigated under Section 39A (1), Section 12 (2), Section 6 (1) and Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.—DayakDaily
