KUCHING, April 4: The Chitose Carbon Capture Central production facility has officially been launched today.
The opening of the mass microalgae biomass production facility, located in Sejingkat here, was launched by the Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia, His Excellency Takahashi Katsuhiko.
“It is built next to a coal-fired power plant. This is one of the challenges we have to face in creating a green economy,” he said in a news report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
Meanwhile, Takahashi said Sarawak and Japan had had a long history of working together and hoped that the relations between both parties could be strengthened.
Also present were Deputy Secretary of the Sarawak Government (Economic and Development Plan) Datu Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Sarawak State Attorney-General Dato Sri Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid, NEDO executive director Dr Yumitori Shuji, and Chitose Group founder and chief executive officer Dr Fujita Tomohiro.
Takahashi and his entourage are on a two-day working visit to Sarawak. They arrived in Bintulu yesterday (April 3), where they visited the Petronas Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Complex in Tanjung Kidurong before leaving to board a flight back to Kuching the same day.
Today, they also paid a courtesy call to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at his office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia. — DayakDaily
