Chinese Martial Art Association’s 12 lions, 2 dragons set to usher in CNY

KUCHING, Jan 14: Chinese Martial Art Association (CMAA) has unveiled its 12 lions and two dragons that are set to usher in the Chinese New Year 2024 celebration.

Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian was present to officiate the eye-dotting ceremony held at CMAA premises here today.

Amongst those present were Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, CMAA founder Master Law Kaw Chai, CMAA president Chester Lim, CMAA advisor Kapitan Tan Kun Gee, Sarawak Dragon-Lion Dance & Wushu Association secretary Frederick Kueh, Wushu Association Kuching president Chew Meng Teck and Lee Onn Group chairman Datuk Tan Guek Kee.

In a press release today, Lim said this year’s ceremony was in respect of the Association’s ‘Zhu Shi Ye’ (Ancestral Deity) to commemorate its 50th year anniversary (since 1974).

In addition, CMAA treasurer Nelson Nguang Kim Ban and Wushu coach Calvin Kong Ngon Chung will be leading the team for Chinese New Year rounds to residences and commercial outlets from the 1st to 6th day of the lunar calendar. — DayakDaily
