MIRI, Jan 26: Mirians have been told not to worry about a shortage of chicken eggs anymore as the supply has been increased, with an additional 144,000 eggs arriving today from a supplier in Kuching.

According to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry Miri (KPNDHEP) branch chief Joe Azmi Jamil on Wednesday, an additional 156,000 eggs are scheduled to reach Miri on Thursday (Jan 27).

For the past few weeks, Mirians have voiced their concern due to a shortage of chicken eggs in the division.

On Wesnesday, during a meeting with pig farm and pig sellers representatives at Miri Resident office, Minister of Transport Sarawak cum Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) minister in-charge Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin has assured that the issue concerning the shortage of chicken eggs would be resolved with supplies coming in from Kuching today and on Thursday (Jan 27).

“I’ve instructed Miri KPDNHEP to check all the supplies. Most of our (chicken egg) suppliers are from the Southern Division and this shortage happened because of high demand due to the coming Chinese New Year festive season,” Lee said. — DayakDaily
