Cashier in Niah arrested for allegedly embezzling over RM400k

KUCHING, March 10: A 32-year-old woman who works as a cashier for a palm oil company in Niah was arrested by the police for allegedly embezzling RM401,720.16.

According to Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, following a police report from the company’s executive officer, the woman was arrested on Thursday (March 9).

He said the complainant filed a police report after finding out from a customer that the suspect did not hand over payment to them after the sale of palm fruit from Nov 23, 2022, to March 7 this year.

He also said the initial investigation found that the suspect had committed a criminal breach of trust by using the employer’s money for personal gain and not making customer payments.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 408 of the Penal Code. ā€” DayakDaily
