MIRI, July 4: A woman who left her car unattended with the engine idling for a split second in front of her house got more than she expected on Tuesday afternoon when thieves took advantage of the situation to steal her handbag left in the car.
She lost not only cash amounting to nearly RM500, but other crucial documents. As the incident happened rather fast, the victim did not notice the exact moment her handbag went missing.
It was believed that the thieves had sneaked into the car when the victim went into her house to get her grandchildren.
The incident occurred around 2pm at Jalan Pujut 7 here.
According to sources, prior to the incident, the victim left her car unattended and its engine running, with her handbang inside the vehicle.
She only realised what had happened when she returned to the car and saw her handbag was missing.
A police report has been lodged by the victim at Miri Central police station (CPS). — DayakDaily
