Betong hospital OKK attending fire & safety training

BETONG, July 4: A total of 40 members of the Fire Organization Team (OKK) from Betong hospital attended a one day fire and safety training.

The event, held at Betong hospital was conducted by fire officers from Betong fire station.


Each OKK members were taught on ‘what causes fire’ and varieties of chemicals or accelerant which was delivered by Betong fire station chief Vincent Baling Yabi, while Henry Jugah presented the fire safety organization module, building management and portable fire extinguishers (theoretical) procedures.

Practical modules such as hose and fire extinguisher demonstration and gas stoves were delivered by fellow firefighters Sapuan Abu, Abdul Kadir Sebie, Mokhtar Kadren, Nickson Asean Akui and Leo Chapau.

The OKK team also had the opportunity to repaint the fire hydrants within the hospital vicinity.

Bomba also presented Friends of Fire Hydrants certificates to 12 OKK members who pledged to look after the fire hydrants.

Director of Betong hospital Dr Tan Jung Khang praised the Bomba team for their continuous effort in education the public on fire safety and prevention.

Dr Tan, who is also the head of Betong hospital OKK team, said they now have better ideas on fire safety and prevention should any unfortunate event occurred at the hospital.— DayakDaily
