Car crash victim succumbs to cardiac arrest while receiving treatment in Serian Hospital

KUCHING, May 14: A 35-year-old driver who got thrown out of his car after crashing onto a street lamp post along the road divider at Mile 21 Kuching-Serian Road has succumbed to cardiac arrest while receiving treatment at the Serian Hospital.

According to a police report, the accident that occurred at about 8pm on Thursday (May 13) caused the Perodua Myvi car to flip on its side and the victim identified as Hamilton Guwing from Kota Padawan was flung out onto the right lane of the road.

He was travelling from Kuching toward Serian when he crashed the vehicle.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu who confirmed the accident said that paramedics from Serian Hospital who arrived at the scene had rushed the victim to the hospital for treatment.

“But at about 11.03pm, a doctor from Serian Hospital informed that the driver had passed away during treatment.

“The cause of death was due to cardiopulmonary arrest,” he added.

The case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
