KUCHING, May 22: Get ready to showcase your photography and videography prowess as Tourism Malaysia has launched the ‘Malaysia Photo Hunt 2025’, offering total cash prizes of up to RM400,000, including RM100,000 grand prizes for top winners who can best capture the beauty and essence of Malaysia.
Organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia via Tourism Malaysia, this nationwide contest is one of the biggest of its kind, aimed at inspiring locals and visitors alike to share the country’s natural wonders, vibrant culture, and iconic destinations through stunning visuals.
As an added incentive, the first 2,000 participants will receive an exclusive mystery gift from Tourism Malaysia.
Entries must be submitted online from June 1 to August 31, 2025. The competition is open to Malaysians, foreign residents, and international visitors, and accepts submissions taken using any brand of camera or smartphone.
“Malaysia Photo Hunt 2025 is a high-impact initiative aimed at intensifying the country’s tourism promotion efforts creatively. It is one of the promotional programmes to encourage domestic and international visitors to promote the beauty of Malaysia through photos and videos on their social media channels with the slogan ‘Malaysia Welcomes the World’,” said Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, in a press statement.

Participants must submit a photo or video along with proof of travel activities in Malaysia such as receipts for accommodation at registered and licensed premises, purchases of tickets to tourist attractions or booking domestic transport tickets dated between January 1 to August 31, 2025.
The competition is also in partnership with five well-known brands – Canon, Sony, Samsung, OPPO and Huawei, while Perodua is sponsoring 10 cars for influencers for a ‘Fam Trip’ programme which will be held from June 13 to 15, 2025.
Canon, Sony, Samsung, OPPO and Huawei camera or smartphone users can submit their photo or video entries based on their gadget brands, while users of other brands can submit their entries under the ‘Tourism Malaysia’ category.
Each category offers first to third place prizes as well as 20 consolation prizes. There will be four grand prizes worth RM100,000.
Of this amount, RM15,000 grand prize is offered to phone users for the photo category and RM25,000 grand prize for the video category. Prizes worth RM25,000 are offered to winners under the camera-photo category and RM35,000 for the camera-video category.
This initiative is supported by state governments’ tourism agencies, including Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), Penang Global Tourism, Sarawak Tourism Board, and Sabah Tourism Board as well as tourism industry associations such as MATTA, BUMITRA, MAH, MAHO, MyBHA and MITA.
The competition results will be announced in October 2025, followed by a special exhibition showcasing selected entries as part of the lead-up to Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026).
