Cambodia job scam: Another 2 suspects plead not guilty

KUCHING, June 27: Another two individuals claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here today in relation to the Cambodia job scam.

Magistrate Mohd Syukri Mokhtar, who fixed July 31 for pre-trial case management, allowed accused Margerat Muna Anyut, 25, cash bail of RM4,000 with one local surety, while accused Lam Sang Kiong, 35, was allowed cash bail of RM1,000 with one local surety.


So far, four people have been charged in relation to the scam. They are all charged under Section 415(b) of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 417 of the same Code, which carries imprisonment of up to five years or a fine or both upon conviction.

They had allegedly impersonated bank officers over the phone to carry out the scam. — DayakDaily
