7 teens arrested for stealing three motorcycles in Sibu Jaya

SIBU, Dec 12: Seven teenagers aged between 11 and 15 have been arrested for stealing three motorcycles in Sibu Jaya on Sunday (Dec 10).

Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said today that the suspects were detained following reports lodged by three victims.

“The victims claimed in their report that their motorcycles were stolen by someone in Sibu Jaya,” he said.


Based on that information, a police team swung into action and nabbed two teenagers, aged 12 and 15.

The duo led the police to arrest five more suspects aged between 11 and 13.

The police seized three motorcycles from the suspects.

“All of them admitted to stealing the motorcycles. They have been remanded for two days until Dec 13,” he added

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for theft.

The section provides for a jail sentence of not less than one year and not more than seven years, plus a fine. — DayakDaily
