Businesswoman pleads guilty to selling ‘luxury’ goods with false trade descriptions

KUCHING, Dec 2: The Sessions Court here sentenced a businesswoman to a fine of RM750 for selling goods with false trade descriptions.

Ng Siew Hong, 54, pleaded guilty to the charge framed.


Sessions Court Judge Mohd Taufik Mohd Yusoff accepted her plea and sentenced her to a fine of RM750 or in default of one month’s imprisonment.

She was charged with offering to supply ten units of “Louis Vuitton” purses, two units of the brand key chain and eight units of the brand handbag, at a shopping mall here at about 11.15am on September 25, 2013.

Ng was charged under Section 8(1)(b) of Trade Description Act 2011, which liable to a fine not exceeding RM10,000 for each good bearing the false trade description or imprisonment not exceeding three years or both.
