Businessman arrested for alleged drug possession

MUKAH, Jan 3: A 40-year-old businessman was arrested for alleged possession of drugs yesterday.

Mukah district police chief DSP Mohamad Rizal Alias said at about 5.15pm, a five-member police team from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) stopped the suspect at the back of a shophouse in the old town centre.

“Following a body search, the team found a cigarette pack and inside it were three green straws which contained 0.85gramme of drugs believed to be Methamphetamine,” he said.

This morning, the suspect was produced at the Magistrate’s Court and was ordered to be remanded for four days for investigation under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. ― DayakDaily
