KUCHING, June 21: A burst pipe along Serian bypass that was caused by construction work on the proposed Pan Borneo Highway today has been repaired.
Due to the problem, treated water supply to areas such as Kampung Tase, Kampung Plaman Nyabet, SMK Tase, Baki Riih Road, Jalan Ensengei and Jalan Kuching/Serian/Tapah as well as Tarat were disrupted.
Since the fault has been repaired, treated water supply to the affected areas has resumed but at a gradual pace.
The affected pipe was 355 mm in diameter and the contractor for this stretch of the highway immediately took steps to get it repaired.
The affected residents, meanwhile, were advised to keep and conserve water for their own use.
Rural Water Department (JBALB) said it would do its best to see that everything is back to normal within the shortest time possible.
