KUCHING, July 20: Burger King at Plaza Merdeka here will be giving out free burgers for the first 100 customers visiting the restaurant as a celebration of Sarawak’s Independence Day on July 22 following its soft opening today with a brand new ‘20/20 Garden Grill’ concept.

Burger King head of Marketing Goh Yin Yin said a surprise would come together with the free burgers exclusively this Wednesday (July 22) for Kuchingites or any other customers while they enjoy their burgers in a newly designed restaurant setting.

“The new 20/20 Garden Grill concept is different from our previous canteen styled design with red, blue, yellow and white colours.

“The design we are going for this time inclines towards a warm setting in a space where customers can feel like they’re at home, grilling and eating burgers in the comfort of their own backyard,” she said before the soft opening ceremony of the Burger King branch at Plaza Merdeka here today.

She also revealed that Burger King would be going strong in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic although the branch in Kuching had been closed longer than expected because the renovation works around January this year were delayed due to the virus outbreak in March.

“We (Burger King) too have plans to expand within Sarawak this year.

“We foresee this will be the first of many more Burger King restaurants in the Land of the Hornbills to embrace this design concept which is already implemented in Peninsular Malaysia about two years ago,” said Goh.

Also present at the opening ceremony of Burger King, Kuching were Plaza Merdeka managing director Datuk Steve Ng, Burger King Malaysia and Singapore chief executive officer Ng Lee Tieng, Goh and other heads of departments in Burger King. —DayakDaily
