SERIAN, Aug 27: Bung Sadung near Kampung Bunga in the Tarat constituency will be developed under Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA).
In disclosing this, Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said an allocation under GKCDA will be available to develop Bung Sadung heritage.
Sagah, who is Tarat assemblyman pointed out that developing Bung Sadung will strengthen eco-tourism promotion in the area.
“For the allocation under GKCDA, Dr Simon Sinang Bada (Tebedu assemblyman) has also announced some allocation for the area, and for us here (in Tarat), I’ll also give allocation to develop Bung Sadung heritage.
“Let them start from there (Tebedu) and we start from here (Bung Sadung) where we meet to further promote our eco-tourism,” Sagah said today.
He said this at a prize presentation ceremony for Bung Sadung Climbathon Trail Challenge 2023 at Kampung Bunga, here.
Sagah pointed out eco-tourism in the area needs to be developed because the area was well-liked by foreigners and also locals for its scenic views, adding that the development of Bung Sadung will spur local economic activities.
On the Bung Sadung Climbathon Trail Challenge 2023, Sagah said this year’s event received a stronger positive response compared to last year.
According to him, the number of participants increased from the previous year’s 297 to 375 who participated this year, with participants coming from Brunei, Sabah and other Malaysian states, as well as local participants.
At the event, Sagah also presented a cheque for RM200,000 from Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to St Barnabas Church Kampung Baru Mawang.
