SIBU, June 21: Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng is allocating RM90,000 as education initiatives for students who obtained 5A and above in the 2022 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exam in his constituency this year.
Speaking at the incentive presentation ceremony at SMK Sacred Heart here today, he said that the allocation was one of the highest among assemblymen in the State.
“If the situation allows, I will increase this allocation from year to year as a stimulus and encouragement to students to get more As in SPM.
“Last year (2022) I allocated RM80,000, so this year I increased it to RM90,000,” he said.
According to him, the allocation was not to show off but as a sign of appreciation to the outstanding achievements of students in their studies .
In fact, Chieng said that he would do anything or improve his services for education simply to encourage students in the hope that they can continue their studies to a higher level.
At the ceremony, a total of 73 SMK Sacred Heart students who obtained 5A and above received the incentive presented by Chieng.
