KUCHING, May 5: The deadline for matching grants for budget hotel repair applications under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) has been extended to June 15.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), MOTAC stated that applications for the grant were initially open from April 1 to 30 to all budget hotel operators who were assigned grades 1, 2, and 3 under the ministry’s Orchid Grading Scheme.

“The government has allocated RM30 million through the Budget 2022 for the provision of Matching Grants for the Purpose of Homestay and Budget Hotels Repairs under MOTAC,” the ministry said.

In this regard, MOTAC calls on all eligible hotel operators to immediately submit applications for the grant.

“It is hoped that this grant will help hotel operators to remain competitive to promote their premises and attract more tourists,” MOTAC explained.
