British man dies in Miri hospital

MIRI,June 15: A British citizen, working with an oil and gas company, has died at Miri hospital last Friday (June 12), while undergoing a nine-day quarantine at a hotel at Jalan Brighton here.

The deceased, aged 48, died at 3.30 pm.

However, his death was not related to Covid-19 disease, Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah confirmed when contacted on Monday (June 15).

“His swab test for Covid-19 was negative,” he said.

Lim added that the deceased had arrived in Miri from Kuala Lumpur on June 4 for a work trip and was on his day eight quarantine prior to his dead.

“Prior to his death, the deceased had complained of pain to his company medic team that  was also stayed at the same hotel and they brought him to Miri hospital for medical check-up,” he said.

The case has been classified as sudden death and a post mortem will be carried out as soon as possible. -DayakDaily
