KAPIT, Nov 6: Residents of Kapit can now get their hands on ‘Brita Kapit’, a 12-page newsletter for information on the latest developments in the federal constituency.
Available online and in print, the newsletter in Bahasa Malaysia with colourful pictorial sections was launched by the incumbent for Kapit parliamentary seat Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi at Rh Untang in Sungai Yong here today.
“Brita Kapit, can be browsed online at www.britakapit.com by everyone, and not just Kapit residents. This is especially for the younger generations as they are more likely to use technology such as mobile phones or computers to get the latest news.
“This newsletter will also act as the main source of information for voters in Kapit throughout the two-week campaign period for GE15 (15th General Election). This is the first edition and it features the latest development from education to social and economic happenings around Kapit,” Nanta said at the KEMAS Literacy Strengthening programme closing ceremony.
He added that Brita Kapit digital newsletter will be updated from time to time.
As for physical copies, Nanta, who is Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) secretary-general said they will be distributed every quarter starting from 2023.
“With this Brita Kapit, residents will get accurate information about our programmes and efforts carried out by the Sarawak government,” he asserts.
Meanwhile, some 40 adult participants from Rh Untang, Sungai Yong received certificates for completing the literacy class.
Nanta emphasised that the government through Community Development Department (KEMAS) will always ensure that programmes as such this will continue as planned.
“I understand that KEMAS Sarawak received the largest allocation throughout the country in order to make this programme a success for our State.
“This literacy strengthening class will enable participants to master the basic skills of reading, writing and counting in Bahasa Malaysia,” Nanta said, adding that this is the only way to reach zero illiteracy, especially in rural communities. — DayakDaily
