KUCHING, December 5: PAS Sarawak Youth chief Hamdan Sani commended the move by the state government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to give a one-off RM500 bonus to Sarawak federal civil servants.

According to Hamdan, the announcement made by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg of the bonus to 94,971 federal civil servants in Sarawak with a total allocation of RM47.5 million was the first time in the country’s history that a state government had given such incentive.

“Although being denied in their rights and bureaucracy by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government in term of development, education and economic sustainability, this does not stop the Sarawak government from assisting and show their appreciation towards the assistance given by the federal civil servants in Sarawak.

“It shows that Sarawak has a high spirit of federalism and appreciation towards federal government civil servants that are involved in the state’s economic development and the wellbeing of the people,” he said in a statement today.

Hamdan noted the announcement of the bonus was very much welcomed and appreciated by the Sarawak PAS youth exco and also the federal civil servants serving in the state as this displayed the Sarawak government’s political maturity and should be emulated by state governments across the country.

He also said that while Sarawak government had moved forwards, the PH government was still in a political revenge spectrum.

“Through its Culture of Political Maturity and Moderation (BPMS), PAS Sarawak youth exco are committed to help the Sarawak government in ensuring good policies are achieved in realising the prosperity and harmonious environment for the people of Sarawak,” he added. —DayakDaily.
