KUCHING, Dec 16: Boney M 50th Anniversary Tour with Maizie Willams will kick off in Kuching on January 4, 2025, at the Great Hall in Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) at 8pm.
Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah announced this today, describing the event as a unique opportunity to see the legendary band live in action.
“The band was formed 50 years ago and become globally renowned for blending pop, disco and reggae in songs such as “Rasputin,” “Daddy Cool,” “Ma Baker,” and “Rivers of Babylon”.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this iconic band live on stage,” he said during a press conference held at Baitulmakmur Building II today.
Kuching is one of the four destinations on the tour, with other stops in Jakarta (Jan 10), Kuala Lumpur (Jan 12) and Singapore (Jan 15).
Abdul Karim noted that while Sarawak is gaining recognition for its music festivals, the comedy entertainment segment remains largely untapped.
He added the Kuching International Comedy Fest (KICF) will make its debut in Kuching, featuring stand-up comedians, with more details to be announced soon.
In addition, Abdul Karim shared the organiser, Front Row’s plans to feature popular Indonesian Bands in their upcoming Live Miri concert.
“The names of the bands will be revealed in due course and are sure to draw a large crowd and offer a great time for Mirians and outsiders alike,” he added.
