KUCHING, Jan 25: A three-meter crocodile that strayed into a residential area at Jalan Sunandarjat in Demak Baru was rescued by firemen today.
According to Bomba Petra Jaya station chief Tan Min Chai, nearby residents spotted the reptile and immediately alerted Bomba at 9.50am.
A rescue team comprising 10 personnel spent about an hour to capture the crocodile by covering its mouth first, followed by tying it with ropes securely before lifting it up.
“Due to the current king tide and rainy season, the reptile could have come out from the nearby river and somehow ended up ‘lost’ in the drain,” Tan told reporters after the successful rescue mission.
The crocodile was later transferred into a lorry. It will be kept at Petra Jaya fire station before being handed over to the Forestry Department. — DayakDaily
