Navy personnel remanded 5 days in false claims probe

MIRI, Jan 25: A Royal Malaysian Navy personnel has been remanded for five days, until Jan 30, to facilitate investigation into a false claims case totalling RM16,000.

The 33-year-old suspect, who is based in Sepanggar, Sabah, was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Miri branch yesterday after giving his statement at 8.45pm.


It is understood that the suspect went to MACC Miri’s office soon after his vessel docked near Miri waters.

Magistrate Kasyfurrahman Abang Ahmad granted the remand application by MACC prosecuting officer Jamal Ayub, and the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009. — DayakDaily
