KUCHING, March 10: Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre (PGO) received a fake report about a longhouse fire on Tuesday morning.

PGO Sarawak received an emergency call from a lady identifying herself as “En Tigas” claiming that a longhouse located at Rh Bakas Buti, Sibu along Bintulu Road was razed by fire.

Teams from Bomba Sungai Merah and Bomba Tatau were immediately deployed to the scene but when the former reached the location, they did not see any evidence of a fire.

According to the report, the caller who had reported the case failed to be contacted. The phone call was eventually tracked to Bakong, Miri area.

At the same time, Bomba Miri was also contacted by the police about the fire incident around 9am and a team had been dispatched to the scene.

Bomba Miri later reached the scene which was 80km away from the Miri Fire Station and had confirmed that there was no fire incident at the scene. The phone call was later finalised as a fake report by the Bomba. ā€”DayakDaily
