MIRI, March 10: Malaysia’s new cabinet line-up which has 11 out of 18 Sarawak Members of Parliament (MP) has provided optimism for the direction of the nation.

For Telang Usan Assemblyman Dennis Ngau, he is optimistic that those appointed to the federal government were more than capable to deliver their task.

“Our Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) top leaders led by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg decision to accept with conditions the offer from the country’s PM to be part of the federal govt cabinet was not an easy decision, looking at the state’s stand on certain important matters that we are still fighting for,” he said when contacted today on the federal government’s new cabinet line-up.

“But I am very sure there will be untold goodness and benefits for Sarawak by us part of the federal government cabinet to stabilize the nations’ political climate and most crucially to ensure we achieve our mission in our fight for Sarawak’s rights.”

Dennis hopes that the experience of new and young leaders will guide federal cabinet members not to repeat the mistakes of the previous government’s short-lived administration.

“The new Malaysian government will give confidence and attract international investors to come back and invest in our country,” he pointed out.

Therefore, he urged every one especially the opposition to accept the change of government and to give their fullest support towards the prime minister and his new cabinet.

He said that the new federal government must not to repeat the mistakes of the last cabinet who continuously blamed past leaders and the BN government in what he called efforts to cover up their weaknesses in running the country.

“No one in their right frame of mind wants to listen to those kinds of foolish excuses, whosoever is put up in charge to run the government must concentrate on making the life of Malaysians good with excellence in economic and job opportunities which had stagnated under the last PH government with their endless political rhetoric,” he said.

Dennis also expressed his delight with the appointment of Datuk Henry Sum Agong as the Deputy Minister of Rural Development.

“He is representing a rural constituency in our state and therefore I am sure he fully understoods what need to be done in very rural areas in Sarawak, We badly need a huge amount of fund to build basic infrastructures and amenities, this should make it easier for us to request for development project for my constituency of Telang Usan and all other rural constituency in Sarawak which the last Pakatan Harapan (PH) Government failed to do,” he said.

Dennis also disclosed that he would also immediately contact the new deputy minister in the Ministry of Health to push for the implementation of Long San clinic which was already approved in the federal 2020 budget. —DayakDaily
