KUCHING, Aug 9: The Fire And Rescue Department Malaysia (Bomba) Lawas have identified several high-risk hot spot areas where open burning activities have taken place in the district during the hot and dry spell that the country is experiencing.
According to news reported by TVS today, its Bomba Chief Azman Ibrahim said during their regular patrol and monitoring routines in the district, it had identified three high-risk open burning activities.
“Members of the public are reminded not to conduct open burning, especially in an area where the fire may spread quickly and get out of control,” he told reporters.
He said stern action would be taken against any irresponsible parties causing environmental pollution as stipulated in the Environmental Quality Act 1974.
Meanwhile, he explained that firefighters from Bomba Lawas stations had participated in the Bomba Big Bang Fire Tactical Skills Test Program (UKTK) yesterday.
The program simultaneously took place in a hybrid manner through the Google Meet application involving all Offices’ Zones and Fire Stations throughout Sarawak.
UKTK Big Bang is designed under the assessment instrument in the form of a simulation that tests the components of fitness, skills and firefighting knowledge of grade KB19 and KB22 firefighters, which includes four stations in the district. — DayakDaily
