KUCHING, Feb 28: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Bau team was deployed to help ferry five students using a large yellow canoe from Kampung Segubang to SMK Lake to sit for the SPM examination early this morning.

In a flood watch report, the Sarawak Bomba operation centre said the assistance was mobilised after the road access to the village was cut off after continuous heavy rain, causing flooding in the area and the river to overflow.

“All the students are well and reached SMK Lake safely,” the report said.

Meanwhile, two temporary evacuation centres (PPS) were activated in Bau to provide shelter for 17 flood victims from seven families as of 11am today.
