KUCHING, Aug 10: Firefighters are working on extinguishing a 1.6-hectare bush fire at Tebaruk Estate, Sri Aman.
According to a report, the fire was reported at about 7.50pm on Aug 8, with personnel from the Sri Aman station arriving at the scene at 8.08pm, about 17km from the station.
The operations entered their third day today, with seven firefighters deployed to tackle the blaze.
As of the latest update, 0.8 hectares of the affected area had been extinguished, while another 0.8 hectares remained to be put out. No casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, firefighters in Kapit are battling a landfill fire at Bukit Goram affecting 0.2 hectares.
In a separate report, a call was received at 4.23pm on Aug 9, and firefighters from the Kapit station were deployed.
As of 9.32am today, Bomba resumed firefighting operations with the assistance of an excavator. — DayakDaily
