KUCHING, Nov 22: The reported bomb threats at SMK Kuching High and an international school in the Kuching district were confirmed to be hoaxes, with no evidence of a bomb risk detected.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah confirmed that two police reports regarding the emailed bomb threats were lodged today.
“Upon being alerted of the emailed threats of a likely bomb attack, the Kuching Police headquarters in collaboration with the affected schools immediately took action to evacuate all premises.
“For safety reasons, students were evacuated to a secure location,” he said in a statement today.
Ahsmon added the police conducted thorough security sweeps at all locations involved, but no threats were found.
“Investigations revealed that the emailed threats were false, and there is no evidence of a bomb risk in any of the schools,” he added.
The police, in coordination with Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak, implemented safety measures by conducting extensive security checks in the affected schools as well as other schools.
Ahsmon urged the public to refrain from making speculations that could induce panic and anxiety in the community. — DayakDaily
