Body of missing teen recovered from river

MARUDI, May 30: The body of a teenage boy who was reported missing after he fell into Baram River on Tuesday (May 28) while on a fishing outing with three friends, was found today at 8am.

The body of 16-year-old Mohd Farid Adenan was discovered by villagers near Lubuk Naga.


According to Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief Supt Law Loh Kiong, the body has been handed over to the police for further action.

On Tuesday around 3.30pm, Mohd Farid reportedly fell into the Baram river while on a fishing outing with three friends near the boat wharf in front of SK Dato Sharif Hamid.

Marudi Bomba was immediately alerted and a search and rescue (SAR) operation mounted.

The SAR was ended at 8.35am today.

Operation commander Maureen Sim was also present at the scene. — DayakDaily
