Body of man swept away in flash flood in Lawas found

KUCHING, Nov 9: A man who was missing in Lawas he was swept away by a flash flood yesterday was found dead.

According to a report from Lawas Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim was found along a riverbank about 3 kilometers from where he was last seen.

“The deceased’s body was found by workers from a private company when clearing the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) between Sg Sepakoi and Sg Long Tengoa,” it said.


Firefighters arrived at the location at 8.10am then proceeded to cover the body while awaiting the arrival of the police. The body was later transported to a hospital for post-mortem.

The victim, Silas Sudai, 63, was believed to have been checking the water level on a submerged road that connects Lawas to Long Sukang during a flash flood when he was swept away by the strong current. — DayakDaily
